Kandy – Hill Capital

Kandy is a large city in central Sri Lanka. It’s set on a plateau surrounded by mountains, which are home to tea plantations and biodiverse rainforest. The city’s heart is scenic Kandy Lake (Bogambara Lake), which is popular for strolling. Kandy is famed for sacred Buddhist sites, including the Temple of the Tooth (Sri Dalada Maligawa) shrine, celebrated with the grand Esala Perahera annual procession.

The Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy, the temple which houses the Sacred Tooth Relic of The Buddha, is possibly the most sacred Buddhist shrine in the world. It is venerated not only by Buddhists in Sri Lanka but by Buddhists all over the world.

The Royal Botanical garden is the most visited botanical garden in Sri Lanka, which is rich with biodiversity.

Kandy is about 550meters above the sea level and the ideal climate of Sri Lanka. Itbis the one and only city with unspoiled culture as it was not conquered by any of the nations.
